Every step is written out, and the most common questions are answered.

Step 1 — Open ShareFiles once with internet

On both devices open toolsedits.com/sharefiles while internet is ON. Wait until the home screen shows “✓ Ready for offline”. This saves the app on the device.

Step 2 — Install the app (optional, recommended)

Android Chrome: tap ⋮ → Install app (or the Install card on the home screen). iPhone Safari: tap Share → Add to Home Screen. Desktop Chrome/Edge: click the install icon in the address bar.

After installing, ShareFiles opens like a normal app, even with internet off.

Step 3 — Connect both devices to the same network

Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi router, or turn on a hotspot on phone A and connect phone B to it. Mobile data and internet can be off. Allow camera permission when asked.

Step 4 — Phone A: create the connection

On phone A open Devices and tap Create connection. A QR code appears (step 1 on screen).

    Step 5 — Phone B: scan A's QR

On phone B open Devices, tap Scan / Join and point the camera at phone A's QR. Phone B now shows a reply QR.

    Step 6 — Phone A: scan B's reply QR

On phone A tap Scan with camera under step 2 and scan the reply QR on phone B. Within a few seconds both phones show CONNECTED. If it fails, tap Try again — new QR and repeat steps 4–6.

No camera? Use Copy as text on one phone and paste the code on the other.

    Step 7 — Send a file

Open Send, choose the connected device, pick any file (photo, video, PDF, ZIP, any size) and tap Send. Progress, speed and ETA are real measurements.

Step 8 — Receive and save

On the receiver tap Accept (or enable auto-accept in Settings). When the file is fully verified with SHA-256, tap SAVE FILE. Received files are also listed in Transfers.

Step 9 — Relay through a middle device (optional)

If A and C are not directly paired but both are paired with B, A can send to C through B. Keep relay enabled in Settings on B. B only forwards encrypted chunks and cannot read the file.

    Tips for best results

Keep ShareFiles open on screen on both phones during the transfer — phones may pause background apps.

Make sure the receiver has enough free storage for big files.

Use Diagnostics if pairing does not work to check WebRTC support and network candidates.
