MeshLink
Messaging without internet
Internet and local network are not the same thing. A Wi-Fi router or phone hotspot can connect phones to each other even when it has no internet connection at all.
Where it is useful
- Power cuts or internet outages
- Events, campuses and offices on one Wi-Fi
- Remote sites using a phone hotspot with no data
- Keeping a conversation off every cloud server
What you need
- Two or more phones with a modern browser
- MeshLink opened once while online
- A shared Wi-Fi network or one phone's hotspot (data can be off)
Internet vs mesh status
The app shows Internet ON/OFF separately from Mesh connected. You can have Internet OFF and Mesh CONNECTED at the same time — that is exactly the offline case.
What MeshLink cannot do
- It cannot control Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct or any radio hardware — browsers do not expose that.
- It cannot link two phones 10 km apart with nothing in between. Each connection has the range of the Wi-Fi or hotspot both phones use.
- It cannot load for the first time with no internet. Open it once online so the app is saved on your phone.
- Mobile browsers pause pages in the background, so keep MeshLink open on screen while relaying.
