MeshLink
Complete user guide
Open MeshLink once while Internet is available so the app can cache its files before switching Internet off.
Connect two phones
- Step 1 — Open MeshLink while online.
- Step 2 — Install it: browser menu → Add to Home screen / Install app.
- Step 3 — Open MeshLink on both phones.
- Step 4 — Connect both phones to the same Wi-Fi, or turn on a hotspot on one phone and join it from the other.
- Step 5 — Turn internet / mobile data OFF.
- Step 6 — Phone A: tap + → “I am Phone A — create invite”.
- Step 7 — Phone B: tap + → “I am Phone B — scan invite” and scan.
- Step 8 — Phone B shows a reply QR.
- Step 9 — Phone A scans the reply.
- Step 10 — In the Mesh tab wait for WebRTC CONNECTED and DataChannel OPEN.
- Step 11 — Open the chat and send a message.
- Step 12 — Check for ✓✓ Delivered. The app then shows REAL P2P CONNECTION VERIFIED.
Add a third phone (relay)
- Pair A ↔ B and B ↔ C.
- A sees C in Chats once B introduces it.
- A message from A to C is forwarded by B, which only sees ciphertext.
Test store-and-forward
- Close the B ↔ C connection.
- Send from A to C: B holds the encrypted packet.
- Pair B ↔ C again: it is delivered automatically.
If it does not connect
- Both phones must be on the very same network.
- Some public/guest Wi-Fi blocks device-to-device traffic (“client isolation”). Use a phone hotspot instead.
- Some browsers hide local addresses; if pairing fails, try Chrome on Android.
- Create a fresh invite every time — each one works once.
